I
was born in 1945 in Chiampo (Vicenza), small artisan village in Veneto
region, north-eastern area of
Italy with Venice as capital.
My
father was a sculptor who specialized in marble, and there is a
profound artistic background from maternal part of our family; various
ancestors were painters and sculptors. The great-grandfather of
maternal grandfather, Angelo Pizzi, enjoyed a particular confidence of
Napoleon, who nominated him after the conquest of Venice in 1797 to
the post of Director of Accademia di Belle Arti. Angelo Pizzi
designed the Napoleonic Aisle in Piazza San Marco, which is
located in front of San Marco Cathedral in Venice.
I
have lived and worked in Venice, Verona and Lazise on Garda Lake.
Since 1998 I have been in Venice and Bassano del Grappa, a small,
picturesque town in the foothills of the Alps in north-east Italy. The
town is famous for its Ponte Vecchio (a covered wooden bridge
of the XV century) by Palladio and its ancient Castle (XI century).
The
female nude is my favorite genre and has been my concentration during
the last few years. It’s a great satisfaction to capture and to
transmit that imperceptible mix of harmonious elegance and sensual
beauty that only a female body can express. That’s why the figure of
the model is very important for me. Her support is fundamental
in an art work creation. In a certain sense, she is a co-author of my
drawings.
I have my works in many private (Germany,
Austria, Denmark, England and US) and public (Washington County
Museum of Fine Arts and Bass Museum of Art
of Miami) collections throughout
the world. Additionally, my work is represented by various
American, British, German, Spanish, Austrian, Finnish and other
European art galleries.
